Welcome Back to the Office

Whether it’s a swing, couch, or bar stool, this collaborative space has a seat for everyone.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced most of us to forgo the office and work entirely from home. As restrictions are lifted, companies hope to encourage employees to return to in-person work. Many people have adopted a hybrid schedule that mixes in-office and remote work days.

This means that owners of office buildings now face a new challenge: the demand for total space has lessened with the rise of hybrid work, but tenants now want amenities to make the office experience more appealing to workers. Even the furnishings are more colorful and attractive than the plain white walls and gray cubicles of years past.

This lounge is more stylish than my living room!

In response to the popularity of hybrid work, some offices have replaced assigned cubicles with flexible, multipurpose spaces that can be used by someone different every day, or even every few hours. Lounges offer more casual, comfortable spaces for collaboration, while game rooms and gyms provide the opportunity to stretch the body as well as the mind. In-house eateries and cafés save time and money that would otherwise be used on a coffee run.

All conversations are better over lunch, if you ask me.

A ping-pong table makes bouncing ideas around a little more fun.

Remote work certainly has its perks, but for those who want to keep job and home separate—or simply hate Zoom meetings with a passion—office spaces are back and better than ever.

Not to worry, there’s still cubicles for those who prefer the setup.
