For those in the restaurant business, it has been an especially difficult year. Shake Shack prioritizes connecting with the local community as staff bring burgers, shakes, and smiles to the table.

The occasion for joy in this case was the opening of two local Shake Shack outlets in Ardmore and Plymouth Meeting. Strict pandemic protocols allowed guests to still enjoy simple, delicious treats.

Pandemic-related safety considerations have made changes to our way of living, but these aren’t all bad. In my work as a photographer, I interact with people on a daily basis. I’ve noticed over the past year a greater sensitivity we have towards people’s body language and facial expressions, a must now that eyes are most often the only visible facial feature.

Even with social distancing and decreased dining capacity, there’s still room for a smile in the brief interactions between Shake Shack staff and customers.
