Longing for Greener Pastures
A lush summer night at the homestead.
It’s a strange yet predictable yearly phenomenon. With the return to Daylight Saving Time at the beginning of the month, St. Patrick’s Day at the middle of the month, and the official start of Spring (not to mention that of baseball season) toward the end of the month, everybody seems to march into March dreaming in shades of green.
Oh, for summertime and hanging out on a deck surrounded by greenery.
Around this time, my clients will often want to know when the landscape will be green enough for photographs that reflect the freshness and lushness of the season—and their properties. Wanting to know the answer myself, years ago I reached out to a local tree specialist. It’s in late April and early May when the Philadelphia region typically greens up to the max. So, March is actually the month of most longing, with the verdant promise of Spring seemingly within reach while Winter stubbornly refuses to release its grip.
This is when I turn to images like these to keep me looking ahead.
Trees, pool, freedom – can’t wait for summer.
Even in the city, trees and grass serve as anchors for structures.
The more green, the better.
Views out to a lush green yard make interiors more inviting.
Clusters of green soften hard-edged buildings.
